Saturday Photo Hunt ---- Music

MUSIC

Granville Island, one of my favourite places in Vancouver, as regular readers of my blog know, is home to many buskers. I see this fellow there regularly.

I call him the Chanteur français because it seems he always sings in French and very often old Edith Piaf songs. He always wears a suit. This is a photo I sent to the Nos regards site, a photo blog in Belgium to which I sometimes contribute. The theme there was musique en fĂȘte and they had some wonderful photos submitted.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE

Some of them should be discovered, don't you think so? :)

Are you back in Canada? Happy weekend! :)

Occasionally they have great buskers in Victoria too, in particular a young girl who plays classical music...she was good. On Government Street there's also good groups playing now and then in the summer too.

I love to hear buskers in the street or in the shopping centres...it always makes me feel at peace and happy. :)

Perfect choice for this theme.

We visited Vancouver & Granville Island too long ago. Need to make it back some day now that I'm retired. Have to get passports first, though, I guess.

Have a great weekend!

We're visiting in south central Montana and will be going to a Choke Cherry Festival and a "What the Hay" event this weekend. I'll be taking photos that, hopefully, I'll be able to use in future photo hunts.

I see he even has CD's of him so he must be pretty good at what he does. Great photo and have a good weekend.

I love Edith Piaf. I have an old record of hers that was my parents which I really need to get on CD if it's not too scratched. Thanks for reminding me of that. I love the photograph you chose. Great image for the music theme.

Wonderful photo! British Columbia is beautiful. My humans are upset that there are no longer any army bases there, since it would be a wonderful place to live.

Excellent choice for this week's theme. :)

I have a lot of Edith Piaf music, huge huge fan...he would be fantastic, rare treat here in Oz, love the cajun music of New Orleans too, there is a great band, in San Francisco: BeauSoleil, just love their version of *La Terra De Mon Grandpere*

There is a new movie out about Edith...I think yet to be released here but coming, the actress mimes I think, hard task.

Can't wait to see it.

Must get some pics in for Nos Regards, really enjoyed catching up with as many (tree) pics as possible, so entertaining. People are so innovative.

Very cool! I want to check out his music because I love hearing french music! In fact, Europe was so nice to hear songs in french much more.

I'd love to hear him: do you have a phone you could record him on?

Someone else posted photos of a park in - oh, no, wait, I think it was Toronto not Vancouver.

Great photo and ideal for the theme. It's very atmospheric; the light seems just right to set the scene for a sunny day, sipping wine, listening to a French chanteur, imagining you're in Paris. Mmmmm.

I wonder if the suit helps him make more money. have you ever heard of anybody making it big like this as another commenter hoped?

Love the photo. Many of my musicians that I photographed started as buskers. I should have gotten to Granville island when I visited Vancouver.

I love buskers, something about playing outside and usually from the heart. Thanks for this, jmb!

I could have taken several photos of musicians like this in our park area of Saturday Farmers market. Always several interspersed among the booths with their case open for donations. They do add a bit of joy to those walking about.

Good entry.

Did you visit mine?
