Saturday Photo Hunt ---- Ordinarily Original

UPDATE: JMB has officially lost it. She copied down the theme as ordinary and never checked it again. ipanema has kindly pointed out that the theme is ORIGINAL! That's too bad because JMB is going ahead, in her own ORIGINAL way, with her ORIGINAL post. She promises to get it together for next week.

ORDINARY

Commonly encountered; usual.
The usual or normal condition or course of events
the regular or customary condition

At our house we are "drowning" in books. We have a large house and today I counted twelve bookcases which hold our books, usually at least two rows deep and sometimes three. They also seem to rest on every flat surface except in our living room where two quite tidy bookcases reside and there are no bookcovered surfaces. But in every other room the ordinary everyday situation regarding books is shown below. But I can also tell you what books I own and in which of the twelve bookcases or on which flat surface you will find any one of these books.

Only two rows deep in this bookcase in the family room, but rather chaotic

One of three bookcases in my bedroom, the smallest,
yes, in the cupboard below too,
totally out of control

Two deep, on top of my bedroom chest of drawers
A rather eclectic mix, it's true.

So many books, so little time!

Hi there,...I had to go back and look at the list,... you wrote "ordinary",... and then I wondered if I looked at the word wrong. Actually sweetie,... the word is "original",.. but even still, I think this would qualify. You certainly have a TON of books! Have a good weekend.

Hi JMB,

This post qualifies as an original post for what is ordinary to you. I have a lot of books too but I can't ever find anything unless it's in the to read stack. Thanks for visiting me and I thought I'd answer your question here, I will be doing a separate post soon about the NCBG with photographs of more of the art which is currently there. Have a great weekend, Carver

JMB dearie, it's ORIGINAL.

Well, this could still qualify. That's if we see or look at the way your books are arranged in your house. That's an original way of doing it.

Happy weekend! :)

I usually go through my Google Reader feeds for Photo Hunt posts. I had not yet gotten to yours and my Twitter desktop feed reader signaled a new twitter: YOU! I cracked up. Please don't crawl under a rock! This is your very own! And it's good!

Haha JMB...it's still the original post right? No harm done as it's still within the theme. Now I can see how original you set up the bookshelves and books in such a systematic order. Well done. Have a great weekend :)

Oridnary or original? I say the latter jmb. Nice shots. You're right too many books, too little time!

Hi JMB - your bookcases look like ours, in fact we've just sorted out two big bags of books for the charity shop to try and tidy the place up. My husband has a vast collection of sports books, mainly cricket, plus a huge collection of autographs, mainly cricket, which all live in neat binders etc so he takes up more book case space than anyone else!

Have you ever thought of opening a bookshop? Or perhaps an ebay account? You could clear them all out in a few weeks!

I have four bookcases in the flat- they do take up a fair bit of room.

Most of them are non-fiction, I have to say, but there are some sci-fi/fantasy.

I have pics of the flat I want to upload, but at the moment my upload function is playing up.

Nice to know someone else who loves books so much though I think you outnumber me by a few dozen or more :) This definitely qualifies as 'original' because it's your house and your books. Love it.

hihi, you're being very stubbornly original!!

I love the book photos... books make a home cosy! :)

My office bookcase looks pretty much the same. I can't resist buying books I want to read, but have so little time to do so.

Originally ordinary, yep that is your post. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. Thanks for sharing photos of your numerous books. I see some books there that I have too.

Oops. I would have to check my PH themes very carefully from now on because I won't know how to change it then.

You have quite a collection of interesting books. They tell a lot about you. :)

Liz said...

That's a very original take on the theme!!!

But what a lot - and what a varied selection - of books. But most amazing is that you know where each one is.

Khaleid Hosseini - did he write The Kite Runner? Is that a follow-up you have there?

Have you read Shadow of the Wind?

It appears to me that you may actually still possess your ORIGINAL book. I am not sure which of those cases it resides on, but it is there.

Although I own a lot of books as well, they are possibly less organized than yours. I do, however, have oversight of a library of around 8000 volumes which is as organized as it can be with kindergartners, among others, looking for things and putting them back. I do not have the ORIGINAL book there--at least not that I know of--but I do often come across one whose accession number is below 50.
