Photo Hunt ---- Practical

PRACTICAL

Everyone knows that I have 75 pairs of shoes from my post, The Shoes in My Life. All sensible shoes. But I have taken that one step farther. I often buy the same shoes in different colours it seems. Now that's practical, for I like them and go back and buy them in another colour. I don't waste time searching around for other styles or colours because it also seems that I buy them in the same colour. Black and tan. Well except for the sandals. Red. Some brown too.

And now for something completely different.

Old age is a bummer, let me tell you. The body is incapable of doing things it once could. Even simple things, like open jars. Everything is closed so tightly now that it is impossible to get inside to use the contents. The "old scientist" isn't much help either because he's even older. Since I just love the "toys" this is what I bought him for his birthday last year. Lids Off, the practical solution to the problem. No excuse now. Well yes, it is a bit like using a canon against an ant. But it works like a dream, when we use it once a month or so. No laughing! You'll be old one day too!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE

Update: Once again all the images disappeared from this post so I apologize if you visited during that time. I have uploaded them once again! Why is Picasa doing this to me?

I will need one eventually but until then I have my husband who still has quite strong hands. :)

those are so practical stuff..love the lids off, got an idea as a X-mas gift for my mother.

You're so right about the shoes, I do that with clothes too:)
And any opener is a great invention!

I'm very practical about shoes, too. My daughters laugh at the fact that I don't wear high heels, but frankly they kill my back AND my feet. I buy shoes in black and tan, too, 'cuz they go with everything.

I have a trick that I use when I can't open a jar (no big strong man here anymore). Use a teaspoon and push up with it under the rim of the lid. When a bit of air gets in, it pops up in the top of the lid and presto...it comes right off.

Now that is practical,... and once you like the comfort of one pair, why not buy the same kind in a different color. I know my practical was lame, but it's all I could come up with on short notice,... thought the theme was something else. Great photo and have a good weekend.

I love that picture of the shoes and that second pic is TOTALLY practical.

That's quite a big machine for a little jar! I love your shoe photo, it's a great idea to buy them like that.

neat collections of shoes.

Mine is up at My 2Cents Worth and The 4Seasons Of My Life Hope you can all visit me.

happy Photo Hunting !!!

Great shots for the theme! It surely isn't fair that they put the lids on tighter the older we get. I like your solution better than the old rubber disk ;-)

The shoes... but I really think that lid opener is something practical in our later life.

I asked Mr Eurodog the other day if he liked my new shoes.
"What new shoes? They're exactly like all the other ones."
I have difficulties with lids as well and I am younger than you are.

Love your comfy practical shoes! Love the can opener too! I love both your photos, JMB :)

have a great week :)

What about taking his socks off, what tool do you have for that????

With clothing and fotwear I am a typical male. I tend to find a style I like and buy several multiples! The opener is a great idea. I often find lids hard to open without a gripper. It probably wont be that long before I need an automatice opener myself.

Great take on this wek's theme Happy weekend

Both of those are very practical. My mom does the same thing with shoes, because she has a very hard time finding shoes that fit (she has extremely wide, but short, feet, so it is very hard to find shoes in her size.)

My practical photos.

Hey, that jar opener - a capital idea, thanks - I am starting to search for one. IMHO it is not an issue of age - there are lots of jars out there that no one can open...

An excellent (and practical) idea to buy the same shoes in different colours. I've done that myself, so obviously it's a good idea;) I like that jar opening device. I haven't quite got to the stage of needing it yet but it's not so far off. I've certainly noticed lids are getting tighter these days:)

PS, yes, my husband uses the shooting stick/umbrella all the time

the colours are practical as well. easy to match with any dress colour.

i love that lids off!

thanks for the visit!

happy weekend! :)

I think that's great! Everyone needs one of those these days. What drives me crazy are the headache medicines wrapped like Fort Knox, here you are with a pounding headache, beginning now to feel nauseous, and you have to wrestle with your bottle for 20 minutes just to get some relief!

Sarabeth said...

About opening jars, I won't be one laughing at you. For years I have used a strap wrench to open jars. It has only ever been in the kitchen utensil jar.

Katya said...

Oh, such practical entries! I love the shoes, but the lid removing device really "takes the cake"!

Wonderful takes on the theme! Happy Weekend!

I agree Jmb - why waste time on looking for something else. If the shoes are comfy get a pair in each color
Just did that with jeans last week. They were so comfortable I went down next day and got another pair - and they were on sale too! Now that's being practical.

I can't load the shoe photo but it's a great idea to buy them that way. I could do with one of those gadgets, too!

What a good idea!
About the shoes, I do the same thing. I like the Easy Spirit shoes that tie, can't remember what they're called but I have them in about 5 colors. And Hush Puppy dress shoes called Angel, I have about every color of them. I am all about comfort so if I find it, I stick with it.

I'm not playing photo hunters any more but will be back to visit.

You and Imelda, eh? That's OK, I think women's shoes, good women'shoes are delightful accoutrements and they also influence my opinion of the wearer.
Age and packaging. Absolutely. Plastic encasings of everything. Infuriarting. That and safety seals. Is anybody really going to throw anthrax in my peanut butter?

Wow, great thinking. I never buy the same style shoes in different colors. Don't ask me why, I just don't. Hmm. As for the opener, that's perfect. Some of these lids are on so darn tight. Anyway, great photos. Mine's finally up at:

Happy weekend!

I had to laugh at our similar and yet total opposite photohunt photos! Check out my "practical" shoes!

ha! I like the jar opener. Since young, I am just weak. Always got not enough strength to open the jar cap. That would be useful for me! :)

.:mar said...

You are a practical shoe buyer!!! I can see that :)

Carver said...

Good idea for the practical theme. I also tend to buy the same shoes in different colors. If they work, they work. I'll come back and read the other post but I wanted to check on some of the photohunters now that I'm back from the mountains.
