Saturday Photo Hunt ---- Flexible

FLEXIBLE

Difficult theme this week, but when I hear that word the flexibility of a person springs to mine. An Olympic gymnast for example. Nadia Comaneci, winner of five gold medals and the first person to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastic competition. Or the practice of yoga, with perhaps a good example in BKS Iyengar, after whom a particular style of yoga is named.

At my age it is a constant battle to keep flexible and I work at it both at the gym and at home. I use a combination of stretching and pilates and yoga which suits me at this time of my life. Below are some of the tools I use, including the Swiss ball and stretchy bands and some DVDs.

The colour of the stretchy bands denotes the various levels of resistance

Yes, this is a bit lame I know, but I was really strapped for ideas this week.

HAVE A REALLY GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE

I thought this week was tough too! I think you came up with a great choice.

Pilates and yoga are great ways to help maintain flexibility. My mom is a certified Resist-A-Ball instructor, and the stability ball is one of her favourite pieces of equipment. You can do so much with it! :)

I'm naturally flexible this week.

Great and different choice this week! You're so right about the need for flexibility - I've managed to lose over 3 stone in weight (45lb actually) and now I really need to work on becoming more flexible.

Keeping flexible is not something I work on, yet I know I should. So a great reminder as well as a great entry this week. Strangely, I've been finding the topics hard until this week, but flexible I managed without too much heartache:) (I think it's supposed to be fun!)

Great submission. Mine is up too hope you can visit. Happy weekend :)

I too thought that was excellent for the theme. What could be more important then keeping flexible especially as we turn older? Great post as usual Jmb.

Great Flexible, drop by and visit me with my Hunt's photo if you can.

What a difficult theme. As a "cnspiracy theorist" in your eyes, JMB, they must be out to get you with this theme.

Not lame at all, jmb! Keeping "flexible" is the name of the game when we get older (I'm "older" too :))
Come visit me at Work of the Poet

Thought about flexibility with regards to people too -- in my case: contortionists. Unfortunately, especially since I seem to have lost my CD-rom with the photos I took when visiting Beijing a few years back, I couldn't use that for my Photo Hunt entry this week. Instead, I went for... well, why don't you come over to my blog and find out? ;b

Now yyou make me feel guilty, because exercise is something I never do.

In fact, I am surprisingly healthy for someone with such an unhealthy lifestyle.

Andrée said...

so that's what the ball is used for! they gave all of us at school one and i have it around here somewhere but i never knew what it was for.

PJ said...

Fun! The pilate's ball is also great for alternative seating. I use mine to sit at my computer, both at work and home. It relieves lower back stress and...it gives isometric exercise. I lost 2 lbs the first week I used it. Nothing else changed, but using the ball to sit. Great for quads, glutes and abs.

Unfortunally I can no longer be that flexibale to do any excerise. I injured my back so badly that it hurts to walk sit or lay down. But I do like your pic for the hunt!
