UNUSUAL/FUNNY SIGNS
The funny part about this unusual signpost is that, besides being in the middle of nowhere, in Skagway, Alaska, it points in the vague directions of (but with no distances included) Whitehorse and Carcross in the Yukon Territory; Atlin in BC; Nome Alaska, now finish of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race; Fairbanks Alaska; this way for the Chilkoot Pass; or that way for Whitepass. For example, Nome is more than 3000 miles away, but just head that way! Too weird!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE
I am having computer problems at the moment so if I do not return your visit right away, I will soon I promise.

I have a photo of just that sign post somewhere in my box of photos. I had the same thoughts. "Oh, head that way and I'll reach Nome. Great." I also had a fabulous flight on a Pioneer 6 out of Skagway's airport. The pilot was Chris. The German passengers in front of us were petrified. We skirted over the tops of glaciers and swooped onto the runway in Juneau. Lovely memory. Thanks for jogging it, JMB.
It reminds me of the signs that soldiers put up when they're 'in country' to remind them of home.
That is hilarious. If it doesn't have miles I assume it's very close so those would have me totally confused. Hope you have a great weekend.
let me see, where am I going
I'll be searching around for any shortcut routes after seeing that! LOL!
That's a very fun road sign. At first I thought Nome said Home! Now that would be funny too....
Those signs are so confusing, JMB :) Wouldn't want to see that when I'm lost, haha.
Thanks for coming to look at my Dubai mall post. :)
You know how you said you would head for the nearest coffee shop? We were there at Ramadan! We finally found the coffee - way at the back, hidden behind a curtain. :)
Luckily one of the signs did not show Timbuktu... haha. Cute one jmb :)

thanks for the additional info ... I wouldn't have known! lol.
happy weekend!
hey that is rather funny.. Silly at that. Maybe they are trying to imitate tourist signs of some sort...
Great idea for the theme JMB. How strange there is no mileage posted and the sign stuck in the middle of nowhere. Good one. Hope your computer troubles get solved soon.
I noticed too that there's no reference to distance with all these directions. I'd be lost with all of these pointing everywhere. :-)
I would have been very confused if I saw that sign on the road. :)
Just follow the yellow brick road, you will arrive eventually :-)
Hmmmm how I'm going to find my way if I follow all this signs hehehehhe. I'm not good on following signs.. Great photo for this week theme.
Mine is up
Every Beat Of My Heart
Well even if they point no where it sure looks like it's doing an important job!
Too funny! I will be heading there this summer. Will definitely look out for that sign.
apparently someone wants to be somewhere almost anywhere else
Those signs always amuse me - It would help if there4 was a road in the direction you want to go :)
Excellent choice for the hunt.
The sign is so confusing! I hate to see this sign...
Oh, what a funny sign!! since I have no sense of orientation whatsoever, it would help me find my way, at least directionwise :)
My pic is posted here. Happpy PH and happy weekend!
Haha jmb I like it. Nome is merely a short step or a country mile! Happy weekend
LOL!!! Perhaps that ought to have written - "That-a-way!". I think that is a fabulous photo!
Drop by and see my sign - it's a gas!
Happy weekend
L
That's really funny!
Haha.. weird one.. NONE.. hehe
happy hunting
Haha. It's like saying "go here, go there, no, here, no, there... everywhere!' :D
It rather reminds me of the one at Lands End although that one does have distances on!
I will be lost if I encounter this sign. Which way should I go?
Just looking at all the directions made me lost already. :)
I've always wanted to go to Gnome.
Mine's posted...stop by and see if you can figure it all out!!
You took the shot, JMB?
Funny... reminds me of a clerk in almost any store. Ask 'em where something is and the vaguely point saying That way.
Oh that is a goodly one for the theme! You've got to wonder what the makers of such signs were thinking as you pointed out it is not very helpful at all.
great picture here. we were planning to visit alaska but were told we won't be able to see the northen lights at this time of year..:( Will have to wait for next yer....
Pearl - happy hunting
Are all these signs at least for the nearest towns to Skagway??
I love signs like that, as if you're just going to follow the arrow :)
Mines up over at Flo's Place
How old is the sign? Is it a replacement of an pioneer sign, I wonder?
That's hilarious, jmb! They just didn't have time to give distances! :D
I think this is perfect for this weeks challenge! too funny...think I'll just head on over to the Yukon.......My photo hunt is up, please come and visit
What a good sign, err..signs!
We always want to be spoonfed, don't we. Is it not enough to be shown the direction? :-)
Well, you have convinced me I wouldn't be able to find my way around there!
i find signs like that very funny specially place in no where.
good idea!
That is unusual!! I guess it points you in the basic right direction!
I have a similar photo from somewhere in Alaska, too. Or was it in Prince Rupert when the cruise stopped there for a day?
Well, you'll get there eventually!
