Hanging baskets full of flowers are what sprang immediately to mind for this theme. I have lots of such photos in my archives but these are from yesterday, when I had lunch at this outdoor restaurant on the pier at Steveston Village (link to one of my posts on Steveston) on a beautiful sunny day, surrounded by flowers, after walking with my Thursday Walking Group on the nearby dyke.

Steveston has been gussied up to attract the tourists and has some interesting small stores but it is a beloved spot for the locals too. One of my group bought a whole fresh salmon right from a fishing boat at the wharf below us.

Those are beautiful shots JMB. What a great place to lunch with the walking group and I can almost taste the salmon. That's one of my favorite foods. I hope you have a great weekend.

These are great! I was just in Steveston last Friday with my Welsh visitors. We also took in London Heritage Farm, and I'll post some photos from there later. I never get tired of going to Steveston - and buying fish right off the boats there.

Those hanging baskets are very full, lots of lovely colour.
Finally getting around to posting. I used to like hanging baskets, but they are so water intensive and with our drought and hot weather in summer they don't work so well. We are slowly drought proofing as we develop our new garden.

What a gorgeous place, the colors and tones just so rich and warm.
The log cabins I love! Love their architecture, really like my timbers..almost a little Sydney Opera House feel going on. :)
I am off scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef in a fortnight, it has been so cold in Victoria, (all relative when Winnipeg has minus 40's!!) Canada at the moment looks so warm and....well, warm!

What is gussied up? Well, I know what you mean - we'd say tarted up or prettified - but where does the word come from?
