Nautical: adjective, relating to ships, sailing or sailors
The Star of India was launched in 1863 and is the oldest ship in the world that still maintains a regular sailing schedule. It forms part of the Maritime Museum of San Diego, a collection of various types of historic boats which can be seen moored at the Embarcadero.
The HMS Surprise is a magnificent replica of a late 18th century Royal Navy frigate and she was used in the production of the film, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Also in the same museum.
Wings, built in 1931, is one of the Pacific Class wooden hulled boats, racing yachts designed locally and for southern California waters.
USS Midway was the longest serving aircraft carrier in the United States fleet, from its commissioning in 1945 to its service in Desert Storm in 1991. In 2004 it opened as a museum at its final mooring place in San Diego harbour.
But I guess you expected to see some boats in Vancouver. How about this one with an opulent powerboat, a dragon boat, a False creek mini ferry and a black sail boat, all in the same photo.

These are all great choice JMB. The Star of India is an amazing ship. There is something about the old sailing vessels that are so romantic to me although I know that it would be a lot of hard work to be one of the sailors operating them. I like how you showed the various styles down to the kite surfer. Happy Weekend!

When I was young I wanted to sail. I worked summers on the Great Lakes Ore Boats.
I'd love to sail on the first two.

Prior to being in San Diego the Star of India was berthed in Lahaina, Maui. I've seen it in both places. Lovely photos. I am a sucker for ships.

I love the look of the big ships. We have a "Hunter" sailboat down in Florida. Hubby loves it. I appreciate the boats/ships but get too seasick to go sailing. Have tried every cure, but nothing works very well. Oh, well, appreciate from afar. Neat post. D
those are really beautiful ships. We passed by historic boats in Embarcadero the other year but was too preoccupied to stop and check them out, now am regretting it.

What a grand post. The Surprise was also known as Nemisis because she carried the party that arrested the men who committed the worst mutiny in naval history.
