UTENSIL(S)
UTENSIL(S)
tnchick has really come up with some tough themes lately and it will be very interesting to see what people come up with for it. I did consider skipping this one but no, despite this probably being the lamest photo I have ever posted, here is a photo of a couple of utensils which make my life easier in the kitchen. In fact no kitchen should be without them so I often give the microplane graters (centre) as gifts. It's funny how something like this switched from its original use to become such a hit as a kitchen utensil.

The two knives on the outside are just cheapies, but I find serrated knives essential for cutting tomatoes. So much so that I gave one to my son and to my daughter so that when I am visiting and using their kitchens I don't have to shred the tomatoes into mush with a non serrated one. Am I the only one who finds that annoying?

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE

A grater like this that would be quite useful. I agree with you about serrated knives too.
I was thinking of skipping this one too but then I resorted to my usul plan B and stretched the theme!
I use serrated knife to cut tomatoes too.
Like Jams I did consider skipping, but after a peek at my archives folder, I decided to join.
Enjoy the weekend.
I like the way your kitchen utensils look against the wood. Very pleasing photograph. I was thinking about skipping this one too and I've noticed others who were too. It's fun to see what people come up with.
It either has to be serated or VERY sharp. Tough one this week JMB. I had to dig deep and no humour :(
Serrated knives are essential, yes I agree :)

Hi JMB --
I too considered skipping this week's Photo Hunt. All in all, I think it's definitely one that really is challenging us to be creative!
I love microplane graters. I use this every so often when I bake. Happy weekend!
those are essentials in the kitchen. i just bought a grater...my old one vanished after our summer beach party.:P
i feel the same way with serrated knife.
happy weekend! :)

happy weekend! :)
I think you can have all the appliances in the world but nothing beats a good sharp knife.
I use a very sharp knife for my tomatoes. I think I'm the only one who doesn't like to use serrated knives. :)
That is a fine array of implements :-)
serrated knives don't work for me. I don't even use them all that much. i prefer sharp knives to cut tomatoes.
I'm with you on the serrated knife thing. Happy photo hunting!
You're definitely not the only one getting the annoying feeling!!!
My grater is a 4 sided stainless steel box arrangement with different graters or slicers on each side, a handle on the top, open at the bottom for whatever I have grated to fall thru. Incredibly useful.
You are right about serrated knives.
I love my trusted stay sharp and find it super annoying when people use the serrated knives I have to slice meats. Too messy. As for my grater, I have one of the old fashioned square ones, skin goes missing off my knuckles almost every time I use it.
Not lame at all!
I have my special knife - which now has a George-chewed handle!
I love my microplane grater too. And I use a serrated knife for most cutting.
