FRAMED

Today when I was out and about I took snapped a few photos of a lovely carved wooden bench outside a bookstore. Banyen Books and Sound is a survivor from the Seventies in what was once a hippy part of Vancouver and in some ways still retains that flavour. Its loyal customers have kept it in business for 40 years and it describes itself as focusing on Spiritual Traditions, Healing Arts and Earth Wisdom.

Ah, doesn't that take you back? But still all very relevant today as the very large bookstore carries a huge selection of books, music, DVDs, audio teachings, etc.

Well framed you ask. Would frames be OK instead? Specifically the frames of the harps played by the carved musicians, one of whom is distinctly surly looking. Click to enlarge for a better view.

I wonder if anyone ever sits on the bench or would it be a desecration?

Surly or cynical? What do you think?

NUMERICAL

I have no idea what to put up for this theme since numerical is rather more of a concept to me, so I am stretching like crazy and just using a photo I like, that I took recently when I was out and about.

Well it does have TWO white horses and that is numerically rare I think, white horses I mean. Although to be honest I don't think they are true white horses but two greys who have gone white in their later years.

True whites have pink skin and are born white and stay white all their lives. These, on closer look, seem to have black around the muzzles so really are greys. Click to enlarge.

COLOURFUL

It seems like Colourful as a theme has become an almost annual event for Photo Hunters! This is my third time doing it for Photo Hunt. Yes, as far as I am concerned it is spelled Colourful with a U!

2007 saw a photo taken in my garden, 2008 a colourful quilt in an exhibition and for 2010, a colourful garden display at a local golf course where I had lunch recently. No, I didn't play golf that day!

I think yellow flowers are very colourful and a great favourite with me



Oddly enough, the bee seems to prefer the white one here


At first I thought this unusually coloured flower was
Chocolate Cosmos but now I am not so sure
