Saturday Photo Hunt ---- Cage(d)

CAGE(D)

I'm a zoo person! I love to visit them and watch the animals. One of my favourite zoos is the San Diego Zoo. There the animals are displayed in very natural surroundings and the fact that they are "caged" is rather subtle for the most part.

These gorillas are certainly confined by dry moats and a low fence but no traditional cage for them. They can people watch without the interference of wire.

Not true for this fellow however, for while his habitat is as pleasant as they can make it, he lives his life totally within a large cage. Click to enlarge if you wish.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE

Great shots. I much prefer it when zoos make the effort to keep the animals in as natural a setting as possible.

Zoos do a better job with creating habitats these days, it seems. Love your photos!

Our zoo in Toronto is similar in that they try to create a spacious natural environment as possible for their animals. I haven't visited since the kids were small, but used to really enjoy taking them. :)

Happy weekend!

Perfect for the theme! I'd rather see animals in a zoo, but I'm glad for the cages. I'd hate to meet any of them without a barrier.

This week's theme must have been easy for you zoo people! I'm not a zoo person -- so had to be creative with this week's Photo Hunt theme! ;S

Seems to me that zoos try to avoid cages nowadays.

I love visiting our zoo. Our Singapore Zoo is set in a rainforest environment, its world famous "open concept” offers visitors the opportunity to experience and be inspired by the wonders of nature. It has attained a strong reputation internationally for its conservation initiatives and breeding programmes and won many awards. I hope you can come visit one day.

The animals appear well cared for and the zoo grounds look clean.

seeing animals in the zoo saddens me, but the thought of them being hunted in the wild is much more depressing. it's great that zoos here have been making efforts to give the animals a better environment.

I like a naturistic zoo. We are lucky, here in Perth, to have one as well. Good shots.

Great shots MB. It's good to see the animals in much more natural settings.

I do like Zoos that can provide a natural environment for the inhabitants.

I hope you have had a good weekend :-
